How the assessment works

To explore your leadership style, you'll take two assessments: the MBTI personality inventory, and the FIRO-B behavioral inventory. Together, these assessments provide a comprehensive portrait of how you approach problems and relate to others.

With the MBTI, you'll learn how you get energized, make decisions, and organize your workspace. You'll discover your preferences on four key personality facets:

• Extraverted or Introverted? Do you get your energy from other people, or from your own internal world?
• Sensing or Intuitive? Do you focus on the present and what you can see, or the future and what you can imagine?
• Thinking or Feeling? Do you make decisions based on logic, or on values and people?
• Judging or Perceiving? Do you prefer things structured and organized, or flexible and spontaneous?

These four personality facets combine to create your four-letter personality type, such as ESTJ or INFP. From motivation to decision-making to communication, your personalized MBTI report (see a PDF sample) shows you what your personality type means to you as a leader.

The FIRO-B assessment looks at your styles and preferences of interacting with others. You'll learn how you approach people and explore the needs you bring to interpersonal interactions.

Q. I'd like to use the MBTI & FIRO-B package to assess potential new hires. Can you help?

Unfortunately, we cannot provide MBTI & FIRO-B assessment services for the purpose of hiring or selection. Using the MBTI and FIRO-B for selection violates the ethical guidelines for these instruments.

In addition, because these assessments look at leadership style, and not leadership effectiveness, they are not useful in determining how well someone will perform as a leader.

On the other hand, the assessment package can be an excellent tool for new hires as they get to know their teams and become acclimated to the organization.
